But alas, I’ve been busy traveling and living life…. And now, since I got back from a trip to Boston and then Wisconsin (yes, Wisconsin), this is the longest that I have been “still” since the beginning of LAST year…..yes, last year.
SO, all done traveling (at least for this season) with Legacy….and now just fumbling thru and looking for other opportunities to unfold before me… and they are unfolding. I find alot of my opportunities thru Craigslist, as I have mentioned in previous posts… I have to say, some have been pretty cool and really have been fun! Legacy, as an example — allowed me to travel all over the country and meet some cool people…. And, if the opportunity for next season presents itself, I will probably do it again – just not EVERY weekend like this past season, as it was BRUTAL!!!
SO, speaking of Craigslist….. I had a great opportunity that came up, that was not only fun, but a great connection and GREAT learning experience working along-side a very good, established photographer – Craig Huey. It was for an “assisting” position. Now, most people would say, “why would you assist another photographer when You are a photographer, blah blah blah…” Well, quite simply, I’m not above LEARNING. There are incredible people out there in this field, that are willing to share their knowledge and expertise – and I’m not Ever going to turn down an opportunity…to learn. To grow. To expand. To Network. oh, and the cash was pretty good! 😉
So – it was pretty “vague” of an ad, but just said basically an opportunity to assist for a few days at an event on the beach in Hollywood, FL. Nothing crazy, just to carry some equipment, lighting, etc. And I send my stuff in and the guy gets back to me and gives me some more details… Then he calls about a day later and tells me that it is for the Hooters Calender and Magazine Shoot at the Westin Diplomat Hotel. To make a long story short, it was 5 days of shooting on the beach and in and around the resort with over 120 Hooters girls from around the world. It was amazing, as we started shooting daily at sunrise on the beach! I learned alot more about lighting, positioning, white balance and flash… you name it. All in all it was alot of fun, although it didn’t start out too good, as the day before I started, I fell down a flight of about 20 wet, concrete steps… yeah, imagine hitting your hip off of each step…over. and. over. again. Oh, and even better, imagine hitting your elbow. wait, FUNNY BONE, repeatedly. It was beyond ouch. So, my “1st” day was pretty harsh as my hip was this massive, sore black and blue mess…and my elbow was soo bad that if it even brushed ever-so-slightly near something – tears. stars. ugh. (ended up going to the hospital the next day to get checked out. Everything fine – no broken bones. Thanks for the tetanus shot.)
Don’t have a ton of pics from the job to share… but here are a few highlights from the week, including a few from the last day – Pre-Pageant party…
Until we meet again —
